PREPARATIONS

Dressing Tips

We recommend that you call the studio prior to your session date to discuss your portrait needs. We would like to know where your print might be hanging, and offer wardrobe ideas.

It is important to choose outfits that will make pleasing portraits, and be coherent with the style of portraits you are planning. Remember that busy patterns, stripes and bright colors are distractions from the focal point: the face, or faces, in the portrait. Color coordination lends harmony. While all clothing does not have to match, the colors should be harmonious, so that one person will not dominate the scene. Dark clothing tends to minimize apparent body size, while light shades do the opposite. Long sleeves are best for adults and older children.

We have found it best, especially in the case of children, not to schedule your session immediately following a haircut. A week later is usually best. Adults know when their hair looks good. Women's make-up should be appropriate for the clothing and portrait style desired. We encourage subtle make-up on most girls, except for the very young.

Final enhancements will take place on all final portrait prints.

Special Kid Tips

Parents, remember this is a new experience for your child. Being patient and allowing me to work with your child at a calm and relaxing pace will keep everyone happier and result in much better pictures.

• Try and schedule your child's sitting after their nap time or first thing in the morning.
• A hungry child is an unhappy child. Be sure they have something in their tummy.
• Little ones can be messy. Bring extra clothes and diapers along.
• Don't forget their favorite toy or blanket.
• Don't schedule another appointment for the same day. Sometimes sessions take longer than we anticipate.
• It's best not to bring extra family members along. The child will do much better with just Mom and Dad as spectators.

Special Pet Tips

We love pets.  And remember, just like with children, having a calm and patient photo session will get much better results!

• It's best not to feed pets just before the photo shoot.
• Please bring your pet on a lead.
• Bring along your pet's favorite toy and treats.
